Units, radios and codes
Who's talking
Each transmission shows the unit that keyed up when FiregroundScribe can tell:
- from the radio ID your recorder sends (trunked systems, SDRTrunk, trunk-recorder);
- from the stream title of an audio stream: scanner software often puts the talkgroup and the radio in it ("TO:FIRE DISPATCH FROM:5-15-1", "Unit: 1234567"). "Scanning..." says nothing;
- from your Units & radios list (Admin → Units & radios): give a radio ID a name ("1234567" → "Engine 5-15-1") and every transmission from it shows that name.
Units on an incident
The incident page lists the units heard: who talked, and the units from your vocabulary that were named on the air, with first and last time. Search the live feed by unit (Filters → Unit): "E1", "ENG 1" and "Engine 1" are the same unit.
The AI size-up uses them
The AI size-up and live size-up get each line with its channel, talkgroup and who was talking, plus the list of units heard, so they use your units' real names instead of a misheard spelling.
Radio codes
Codes are detected by detection rules (Admin → Detection rules): each rule is a pattern and the timeline event it creates. Regional rules (such as the Suffolk signals) ship switched off. Add your own for local codes; patterns see the transcript in lower case without punctuation, with spoken numbers as digits.
