For fire departments

Every word on the fireground, documented.

FiregroundScribe records your radio traffic, transcribes every transmission, and marks the moments that matter (on scene, water on the fire, primary all clear, PAR, MAYDAY), with accurate times for after-action review, reports and NFIRS.

Runs on one Windows PC at your station. 30-day free trial.

An incident in FiregroundScribe: benchmark times for first arrival, water on the fire, primary all clear and under control, with the end-of-call summary.

From the radio to the record

Every transmission transcribed. The key moments timed.

The live feed: transmissions with their times, channel, unit and detected events such as Under control, Knockdown and PAR.

Benchmarks

Know your times, month after month

Arrival to water on the fire, primary all clear and under control, for every call, with median and 90th-percentile trends by month and incident type.

  • Officers confirm, reject or correct each event; every change is audited
  • Rejected events stay out of your numbers
  • Choose which milestones you benchmark
Performance trends: 25 incidents, median arrival to water 2:24, median arrival to primary all clear 6:50, and a bar chart of the median time to water by month.

Why departments switch

From scrubbing through audio to a finished record

Without FiregroundScribe

  • Replaying the recorder to find when water went on the fire
  • Times written from memory after the call
  • Radio logs that only exist as audio files
  • Each report typed from scratch
  • No way to compare this year with last year

With FiregroundScribe

  • Every transmission in text, searchable, with its audio
  • Benchmark times detected from the radio, confirmed by an officer
  • Incidents grouped automatically, with a timeline
  • After-action report and NFIRS / NERIS times in one click
  • Trends by month and incident type

Built for the station

Your recordings stay on your hardware

FiregroundScribe runs on one Windows PC at your station, not in someone else's cloud. No monthly bill for audio storage, and it keeps recording when the internet is down.

Installs in minutes

One installer sets up the recorder, transcription and database as a Windows service. FiregroundScribe Manager handles users, settings, backups and updates.

Private by design

Transcription runs on the PC, so audio never leaves the building. EMS channels stay off until you allow them, and are never sent to an AI.

Looked after

Automatic updates while the radio is quiet, optional nightly cloud backup, and remote support only when you allow it.

Questions chiefs ask

Before you try it

What do we need?

A Windows 10 or 11 PC at the station that can hear your radio: a Broadcastify or Icecast stream, a scanner plugged into the sound card, or a trunked-radio recorder. The installer sets up everything else.

How accurate is it on fire radio?

Good on clear traffic, and it gets better with your unit names, streets and codes (vocabulary packs) and with the corrections your officers make. Every time it detects is shown for an officer to confirm. How to get the best accuracy.

Does our audio leave the building?

Not with the built-in speech engine: recording and transcription happen on your PC. See Security & privacy for exactly what reaches us.

Can we pay by purchase order?

Yes: card online, or an invoice against a purchase order. See Buying for a department.
